VectorLink (VL) Zambia has worked in country and across countries to strengthen teams. For example, when VectorLink Collect (DHIS2- the District Health Information System 2) was piloted in Zambia during the 2018 spray season, VL Zambia’s database coordinator, Kelvin Mwenya, trained 72 data entry clerks (DECs); 65 of whom were responsible for entering spray data using VectorLink Collect during the 30-day campaign in November 2018. Shortly after the end of the Zambia spray campaign, VectorLink Uganda needed technical assistance to start using the VectorLink Collect platform. Kelvin readily took on the task and assisted the Uganda team to roll-out the platform for the first time. He spent about three weeks in Uganda training and supervising DECs and configuring laptops at the two data centers of Tororo and Mbale districts.
As VectorLink transitions into a Vector Control universe, the Zambia team has increasingly been involved by the NMEP in planning for the 2020/2021 mass distribution insecticide-treated net (ITN) campaign. In this regard, the Zambia Ops Manager Presley Musonda successfully adapted the Race to the Starting Line planning tool for IRS for the ITN campaign. He has been working closely with the ITN focal person at the NMEP. The ITN task force, charged with planning for the upcoming campaign is quite pleased with this new tool, which has made the planning process much easier and incorporates all the relevant implementation steps required, as well as detailed timelines of when each step should have been accomplished.
