This week’s Fist Bump goes to the strong, tough VectorLink Senegal team for pulling out all the stops to get things done. Over the past few weeks, VectorLink Senegal has been working hard to respond to an urgent request from PMI Senegal to conduct two ITN activities, including 1) assessing the compliance of ITN storage standards in a warehouse in Tambacounda health district where PMI is storing 13,200 PBO nets, and 2) transporting 425,000 standard ITNs from a private warehouse in Dakar to the VectorLink central warehouse in Kaolack before the lease expired on January 13th.
Despite being dramatically understaffed (the request came through during the holiday season and while the team is still working to recruit several key positions), the team responded immediately. VL Senegal quickly put together a team to travel the 460 kilometers from the main office to the Tambacounda warehouse to assess storage standards and submitted a report this week with findings and recommendations.
In a short period of time, the team also moved the 425,000 standard ITNs to VL Senegal’s central warehouse. The 192-km move required procuring a transportation company, organizing transport, establishing inventory procedures, and preparing the VectorLink warehouse for the shipment. The team was on-site for the movement of the ITNs which took place over three days and required 11 trucks.
Congrats, VL Senegal for moving mountains (of ITNs)!
