The VectorLink Malawi team recently provided intensive technical support to the NMCP and World Vision team as they prepare to implement IRS in a new district, this October 2019. In collaboration with World Vision (WV) and with financial support from The Global Fund, Malawi’s National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) will be implementing indoor residual spraying (IRS) in Mangochi District for the first time since 2011. As part of a series of training, the VectorLink Malawi team conducted a five-day environmental compliance workshop and a six-day workshop on IRS leadership and operations to help build the capacity of our central- and district-level counterparts in Mangochi.
In addition to providing technical assistance, VL Malawi will support the NMCP’s use of our VectorLink Collect database to serve as the primary data management system during Mangochi District’s door-to-door mobilization and IRS campaign. This will be the first time that the PMI VectorLink Project extends the use of the VectorLink Collect system to support an external, government-led IRS campaign.
From August 19th to 23rd, the VectorLink Malawi M&E team organized a VectorLink Collect capacity building workshop for the NMCP, Mangochi District Health Office (DHO), Nkhotakota DHO, and World Vision teams. The five-day workshop brought together 29 participants with various levels of experience with DHIS2 to provide participants with the skills required to support the rollout of the VectorLink Collect system, from data entry to cleaning and system troubleshooting.
Through intensive training and collaboration, the VectorLink Malawi team is a project-wide example of partnership and collaboration that has strengthened in-country capacity for sustainable vector control programming. Congrats, VL Malawi!
